Enthroned in St Paul’s Cathedral Bendigo on 28th June 2003.

Bishop Andrew W Curnow was enthroned as the ninth Bishop of Bendigo in June 2003. Prior to his appointment in Bendigo, Bishop Andrew was Bishop of the Northern Region and Registrar of the Diocese of Melbourne.

Bishop Curnow

  • has lived, studied and ministered in widely diverse communities and parishes ranging from those in rural Victoria (Elmore, Milloo), to regional centres such as Bendigo, to Melbourne suburban settings (West Coburg, Pascoe Vale South; Kew and Malvern), and to overseas settings as diverse as Oxford and Virginia, USA.
  • has a deeply felt concern for and understanding of welfare issues (through involvement in and leadership of groups such as Anglicare, the Brotherhood of St Laurence and welfare services such as New Horizons Welfare Services in Kyneton, Victoria).
  • has played significant leadership roles in Christian Education (in the Council of Christian Education in Schools, at Braemar College, and importantly at Melbourne College of Divinity and Trinity College, Melbourne).
  • has a particular interest in the theology of Mission in contemporary Australia on which he has written extensively.
