Histroy

The Parish of Lockington is situated south west of Echuca, covering an area of 1500 sq km. of mixed farming. The eastern side of the parish, Lockington and Milloo, is mainly dairy farming and to the west, around Mitiamo and Dingee, there is a mix of dairy, cropping and fat lamb production. It is not a heavily populated area, with the largest community, that of Lockington, with about 400 people. The total population across the parish is only about 2,500 people.

There are services in each parish centre just about every Sunday. Service times are organised on a two monthly programme. The parish relies heavily on the ministry of some excellent lay people and teaching focuses on a proper understanding of God's word. Services vary in their liturgy, with a mix of both traditional and contemporary styles. A home group is presently running in the parish, and a men's dinner is held at both Lockington and Dingee on alternate months.

Children's Ministry

Sundays at St Mary's

On Sunday mornings at St Mary's, children are free to be themselves, digging into our huge pile of toys while parents relax nearby on our couches for the service. Most Sundays, during the sermon time, children are engaged with Biblical teaching or activities relevant to them.

KOOL Club

Kids Of Our Lord [KOOL] Club meets for the 4 Wednesdays prior to the last week of each school term, from 3.30pm-5pm. It consists of afternoon tea, games, singing, and craft related to the Biblical teaching for the afternoon.

KOOL Club usually meets in the hall at the Lockington Consolidated School.

It is an ecumenical ministry run by members of St Mary's, Lockington, the Uniting Church of Australia Bamawm, St Canice's Roman Catholic Church, St James' Community Church. This ministry is run under the umbrella of the Lockington Neighbourhood house, which handles finances and ensures all volunteers have current working with children cards.

East-Loddon P-12 Chaplaincy

We are proud supporters of this ministry at East-Loddon, providing committee members, and participating in the breakfast programme.

7ups

"7-Ups" is an ecumenical youth group based at Dingee, catering for young people from school years 7 to 12. We meet every fortnight of the school term on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 5-30 pm in the Uniting Church in Dingee. An evening usually consists of games, worship songs, small group studies and tea. On 5th Sundays we run a different "chill out" evening such as a movie night. We run camps and sleep- over's to foster a sense of community and to provide a longer teaching opportunity.

Our basic premise is to have fun, learn a few life skills and pick up a bit of the "God stuff" as we build community with a bunch of great kids. Our six leaders come from various church backgrounds and have differing but complimentary skills and gifts and at present we have fifteen to twenty young people attending.

For more information please contact Robyn and Col Falls on 54368242 or Sue and Neil Allen on 54365386.

Caritas

Caritas is a friendship group for women, meeting on 3rd Monday of the Month, 8pm @ St Mary's Hall. They undertake a variety of activities and hosting guest speakers.

Ecumenism

Every third Sunday of the month St Mary's Lockington shares in worship with UCA Bamawm. The congregations take turns to host.

UCA Tennyson enjoys a close relationship with St David's Milloo, sharing services on the third and fourth Sundays of every month and at the Milloo home group.

The Parish has a good working relationship with all denominations in the area, and strives to work with them in a unified public witness to the good news of God in Jesus.

St Mary's Show 'n Shine with a blessing

Our inaugural show 'n shine ran as part of the annual Lockington Festival of the Senses in 2009. 30 bikes were entered and several hundred dollars in prizes were given away, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and riders. Bikers, look for it again in 2010!
