"There are a lot of people who only get up because they didn't die the night before. If you can get them involved, you create a starting point for them to start living again."
'Our Place' is committed to making a positive difference in our community through Empowering people to make healthy choices by providing personal support, case management and education.
Providing opportunities for people to learn new skills, grow and develop through group activities, training courses, mentoring. Creating employment through Community Enterprises . Strengthening Community by engaging and connecting people, enhancing relationships and developing a sense of belonging and self-worth.
Our Place Community Assistance Centre and Our Shed Community Resource Centre targets some of the communities most vulnerable and isolated people - those who experience mental illness, disability, homelessness, substance abuse issues, addictions, and social and economic hardship and provides a person-centred, strengths-based service that focuses on recovery, social inclusion and positive living.
We create starting points for people to start living again
Our Place is a fresh expression of church that exists primarily for the benefit of people who are not yet members of any church. It is not church in the typical sense of a building with a gathered community and a weekly God-slot with liturgy, and worship, teaching, etc but church in the sense of a Christian community aware of the presence of God, seeking to follow the way of Christ and open to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
Our ministry is the ministry of reconcilliation. Our sanctuary is in the everyday spaces and places of our community.
Our Place and Our Shed seek to engage the church in the life of the community, and embrace the community into the life of the church.
